The CHE Disc Brake Conversion Kit for the 1946-1968 Dodge Power Wagon is the perfect answer for owner's of these fantastic trucks to modernize their stopping power while maintaining stock axles and wheels.

CHE Performance has been performing the welding and machining of the conversion hubs since 2016 for a well known Power Wagon vendor, and we have built hundreds of them.  We added the fabrication of the caliper mounting brackets in 2022 and are now offering our Disc Brake Conversion Kit to the public starting in 2025. 

We have numerous hubs machined and ready to go, so this kit will typically ship within 7-10 days.   

These kits are offered in the following variations:

Builder Kits:  Includes hubs, wheel spacers, caliper brackets and installation hardware for those who would prefer to source brake components and wheel bearing seals locally.  Additional options are available for refurbished wheel studs and new Timken bearing races.  Re-use your own wheel bearings or purchase new locally if required.

Complete Kits: Includes hubs, caliper mounting brackets, wheel spacers, installation hardware, brake rotors, brake calipers, brake pads,  and brake hoses with adapter fittings.  Kit also includes a new inner bearing seal, but wheel bearings are not included.  Additional options are available for refurbished wheel studs and new Timken bearing races.  Re-use your own wheel bearings or purchase new locally if required.  Brake caliper and rotor color will vary depending upon supplier.

 

  • Kit includes components to convert one axle.
  • Kit will replace stock drum brake set up on front or rear axles.
  • CNC machined components for accurate and dependable results.
  • We machine as much of the hub surfaces as possible:  Original hubs are often extremely out of round due to the nature of the original casting and machining process. 
  • Brake rotor mounting flange is fully TIG welded to the stock hub. 
  • Black powdercoat for durability.  If desired, you can scuff and spray them any color you would like.
  • Refurbished wheel studs are available as an option pre-installed.
  • New wheel studs will need the heads clearanced by installer for proper installation, please see instructions for details.
  • Designed to use readily available brake calipers, rotors, and brake pads from the 1971-1978 Chevrolet K20 3/4 Ton 4x4 and hoses from the 1977-1978 Chevrolet Camaro, which the installer can source from their local parts store if using our Builder Kits, or can be purchased from CHE Performance using our Complete Kits for those preferring a complete kit ready for installation.  A 1/4" to 3/16" brake line adapter fitting (Dorman part No.  785-434D) is required for vehicles running stock 1/4" brake lines to adapt to the above mentioned brake hose, which is included in our Complete Kits.
  • Kit includes a core fee of $75 per hub which will be refunded upon receipt of your original hubs.  Please see Tech/ Install instructions tab for details. 
  • Kit does not include axle drive flange studs-you will need to re-use them from your hubs.  We do have a limited number of refurbished studs available, please contact us if you require them.
  • Does not include wheel bearings, or seals.  You have the option to purchase new Timken races which will be installed in the hubs prior to shipping.
